Art Rome Abbey

Happy #GroundhogDay and #TravelTuesday University of Dallas!

Art spent a calm outside of Rome at the Abbazia delle Tre Fontane (Abbey of the Three Fountains). The abbey gets its name from a legend about St. Paul’s martyrdom during Nero’s reign. According to the legend, when Paul was beheaded, His head hit the earth in three different places, causing three fountains to spring forth.

Art enjoyed seeing the mosaics inside of the chiesa di Santa Maria Scala Coeli (the outside pictured in the background).

Hope everyone at the University of Dallas had a great ‪#‎groundhog2016‬. During Groundhog weekend, Art endured cold rain and powerful winds to snap a shot in front of the Eiffel Tower, which was completed in 1889 and remained the tallest in the world until 1930! Piazza Novona

While wandering around Rome, Art stumbled upon Piazza Novona and had a chance to gaze upon the Baroque style paintings inside the church of St. Agnes in Agony (shown on the left). This church contains an altar upon which the skull of Early Christian St. Agnes is displayed.
