Searching for the Disappeared: Mexican Mothers Turning Grief into Action

We invite you to attend a talk tonight (10/8) at 6pm in the Art History Auditorium entitled “Searching for the Disappeared: Mexican Mothers Turning Grief into Action.” Lucia Diaz, mother of a disappeared son, will be speaking about the organization she has founded, “Colectivo Solecito,” which is a collective of mothers from the Mexican state of Veracruz who search for information regarding their disappeared children. Researcher Matt Hone, PhD will be on hand to discuss the wider context of the disappearances in the last decade throughout Mexico. This event is in collaboration with the University of Texas at Dallas’ Ackerman Center for Holocaust Studies and has been co-sponsored by the Dallas Peace and Justice Center. There will be light refreshments afterwards.
